The company has grown rapidly in recent years and is supplying more and more to international supermarket chains in Europe (e.g., Albert Heijn, Carrefour, Salling, Kesko) and major non-food retailers. There is high demand. To effectively manage further growth, we are seeking a Purchasing Manager, who will also serve as a member of the Commercial Management Team and report to the Commercial Director.

You will lead the 5-person Purchasing team and have overall responsibility for the purchasing policy, including all associated processes and structures.

Together with the purchasing team, you will devise and implement new processes and structures to optimize business operations. To this end, you will draw up a strategic purchasing plan and set the direction. This includes improvements to reporting and monitoring KPIs. Process improvements in forecasting and planning through the establishment of a robust Sales & Operations Planning system, the daily monitoring of deliveries and the shipment of goods, and how containers are loaded. Together with your team, you will achieve your objectives.

In this role, you will work closely with the Sales Manager to align forecasts for strategic growth, as well as with the Marketing Manager and the Logistics Manager.

As part of the Commercial Management Team, you’ll contribute to the overall business strategy and take the initiative to drive improvements and further growth. Tasks and responsibilities

• You lead and develop a purchasing team of five colleagues and are overall responsible for the purchasing function.
• You define, implement, and continuously improve purchasing policies, processes, and organizational structures.
• You develop and execute a strategic purchasing plan aligned with the company’s growth ambitions.
• You establish clear priorities, objectives, and KPIs for the purchasing department and monitor performance accordingly.
• You identify and implement process improvements to optimize operational efficiency and business performance.
• You improve forecasting and planning processes by developing and maintaining a robust Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) framework.
• You monitor daily supplier performance, deliveries, shipments, and container utilization to ensure supply chain continuity.
• You work closely with the Sales Manager to align forecasts and purchasing activities with strategic growth plans.
• You collaborate with the Marketing Manager and Logistics Manager to ensure effective cross-functional planning and execution.
• You analyze purchasing data, market developments, and supplier performance to support informed decision-making.
• You identify opportunities for business improvement and take ownership of initiatives that support sustainable growth.
• You participate as a member of the Commercial Management Team and contribute to the overall business strategy.
• You act as a strategic sparring partner for senior management on purchasing, planning, and supply chain matters.
• You create organizational alignment and ensure successful implementation of change initiatives throughout the business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

In addition, you recognize yourself in the following:

• At least 7–8 years of international purchasing experience, preferably within FMCG, wholesale, retail, or travel retail.

• Experience in developing supplier strategies, assortment strategies, and purchasing optimization initiatives.

• Proven leadership experience with managing and developing teams.

• Strong experience in implementing new processes, structures, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Experience with forecasting, planning, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).

• Strong analytical skills with experience in KPI management, reporting, and performance monitoring.

• Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical actions and measurable results.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build support across different departments and cultures.

• Strong decision-making skills combined with a collaborative leadership style.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, ownership-driven approach.

• Experience working in a fast-growing organization; experience within a family-owned business is considered an advantage.

• Structured, organized, and able to maintain a clear overview in a rapidly changing environment.

• Results-oriented, positive, and solution-focused.

• Affinity with food & beverages and a genuine interest in Asian products and cuisines.

• HBO/Bachelor’s degree level or higher, with strong business acumen.

• Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.

• Full-time availability (40 hours per week).
